Principles of Literature Searching , Plagiarism and Hands-On Reference manager training ( Zotero)

Knowing what is already published on a area of research interest is vital to make our research questions better informed as well as avoiding venturing into new  research that has already been answered.

Searching for biomedical information online properly is challenging, especially if one seeks all information on a particular topic.  Every database provides unique methods of effective searching. Each has an option to save the searches so that they can be retrieved later.  Collecting this data, organizing it, citing it in your research paper, publishing your work in different journals (each with a unique style of references) and avoiding the charge of copying other people’s ideas (plagiarism) is challenging.

This module helps you to learn the basics of the search techniques and the management of references using the free software Zotero. We also cover what is plagiarism and how to avoid it.

Due to the prevailing situation we at the centre are planning to teach this course online
